Melbourne Lindy Battle - Fri March 7th 2008

The Melbourne Lindy Battle is designed to bring out the essence of Lindy Hop and capture the energy and craziness of the Savoy Ballroom dancers during the ‘swing era’. It will be a HUGE but relaxed competition danced to LIVE MUSIC by Michael McQuaid’s Red Hot Rhythmakers for dancers of all levels… showcasing some of Australia’s bravest and most talented dancers.

However, the evening is not only about simply competing. Support the dancers on the floor, enjoy the music by
Michael McQuaid’s Red Hot Rhythmakers, have a dance and be entertained by the antics of our host.

What you can expect is a great night out witnessing the great diversity of swing dancing… from incredibly fast to slow Lindy Hop, breathtaking aerials, Charleston, Balboa, Solo Jazz and awe-inspiring group performances.

7. Slow and Smooth
8. Swing Rookie
9. Jack ‘n’ Jill

Please note that if you would like to film any part of the evening, you will be charged a $10 camera fee. This fee relates to any device which has the ability to film (digital cameras, film or video camera etc). However, if you are coming along and intend on just taking action/happy snaps of your partner, parent or friend in the competition, there is no charge payable at all!

So bring your shoes, dance to Melbourne’s most swingin’ DJ’s, compete or simply watch and be entertained by what will go down as Melbourne’s funniest and craziest swing dance competition to date!

Cost: Entry is free to Gold & Social Pass holders as well as competitors, otherwise casual entry is $22

Comp Registration Deadline: Thursday 28th February, 2008. Registrations will not be accepted after this date.

Enjoy the atmosphere as we all relax and do what we do best… DANCE! Join some of Australia’s best DJ’s as they play their heart out to keep you happy on the dance floor in TWO DIFFERENT ROOMS.
